DONKAMUKAM: The first West Karbi Anglong District BJP Minority Morcha's first executive meet was held on Wednesday at Tumpreng in West Karbi Anglong.

Local MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi was the chief guest. In his speech, he asked the Opposition party leaders to refrain from spreading false propaganda that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was 'anti-Christian'. "The BJP is the most disciplined party having a well-written ideology and therefore people are now inclined more towards it," said Rongpi.

He also said that the Karbis were a micro community and not a minority community, having population of a little over 6 lakh. He added that developmental activities had been carried out in Karbi Anglong without discriminating against religion. "Most of the educational institutions are run by Christians and they have brought a remarkable change here in the Hills," he added. He even informed that Tika Baptist Church and Umpanai Presbyterian Church were allotted Rs 10 lakh each for uplift under the MLA local area development scheme.
