Guwahati: Assam Finance, Education, Health and PWD Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies will win more than 100 seats in the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2021. Speaking further on this, Minister Sarma also said that BJP now is aiming to win more seats in the upcoming assembly polls.
BJP has put up a stellar performance in the recently held Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) & Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections. It has been building up its strength to emerge as the winner in the elections next year.
Dr Sarma also said about the newly formed political parties of the state and the probable pre-poll alliance between Congress and Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). He said everyone has the right to form their own political parties, however, people will not merely vote because of some act, bill or some issues.
Sarma further said that every political party should present a wholesome manifesto. There is no chance that people will vote these political parties that oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Things like these do not happen in a democracy, he further added.
Sarma said that the alliance of Congress and AIUDF is good for BJP. What the party is concentrating now is to win as many seats as possible. The fight will be against different political parties in different regions of the state.
In Upper Assam, the probable fight of BJP will be triangular with some regional parties and Congress, while in Barak Valley, the fight will be against Congress and AIUDF. In Lower Assam, the fight will be mostly against AIUDF.
On the other hand, BJP Assam President Ranjeet Dass said that Congress –AIUDF will win 22 seats together, while BJP will win 102-104 constituencies out of 126 constituencies in the Assam Assembly Elections 2021.
