
Congress gets majority in Narayanpur Municipal Board

LAKHIMPUR: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won three Municipal Boards of Lakhimpur district as per the result of Assam Municipal Board Election 2022, declared on Wednesday. BJP has won the North Lakhimpur Municipal Board (NLMB), Bihpuria Municipal Board (BMB) and Dhakuakhana Municipal Board (DMB) while Congress has established its majority in Narayanpur Municipal Board (NMB).
In NLMB, the ruling party has bagged 16 seats out of 21, while its alliance party AGP has managed to administer its victory in 1 seat. On the other hand, opposition party Congress has secured three seats while independent candidate has grabbed one seat. As per result, BJP candidates Pranjal Pratim Dutta (906) defeated Pradip Phukan (684) of Congress in Ward No. 1, Mumtaz Begum (801) defeated Sarifa Begum (161) of Congress in Ward No. 2 (A), Suwola Devi (442) defeated Janmoni Saikia Konwar (107) in Ward No. 2(B), Nibedita Dutta (704) defeated Bornali Das (274) of Congress in- Ward No. 3 (A), Pradip Kumar Sonowal (643) defeated Sidananda Kaman (389) in Ward No. 3(B), Jyoti Das (480) defeated Indrani Das (236) in Ward No. 5(B), Bhawani Shankar Sharma (494) defeated Mandhar Gogoi (312) of Congress in Ward No. 6, Bijit Prashad Shah (631) defeated Hemanta Moral (362) of Congress in Ward No. 8, Mina Das Saha (1257) defeated Madhusmita Gogoi Dutta (466) of Congress in Ward No. 9, Krishna Rani Dhar Sen (1913) defeated Sumi Dutta (354) of Congress in Ward No. 10, Bhaskar Jyoti Kakati (951) defeated Rajesh Das (302) in Ward No. 11, Amrit Gogoi (819) defeated Rukma Bhuyan (152) of Congress in Ward No. 12(B), Dipika Gogoi Das (521) defeated Janmoni Gogoi (317) of Congress in Ward No. 14(A), Prasanta Baruah (920) defeated Imdad Hussain (566) of Congress in Ward No. 14(B) and Deboshree Mukharji (860) defeated Alina Hussain (523) in Ward No. 14(C). BJP candidate Hifzur Rahman Baruah has won the Ward No. 13 seat after the Congress candidate Ashraful Hussain Hazarika had withdrew his nomination and joined BJP on March 17.
On the other hand, AGP candidate Amrit Chandra Balo (555) defeated Congress candidate Fauzur Rahman (503) in Ward No. 7. Though AGP was in contest in two wards of NLMB, the candidate from the party lost the fray in Ward No. 14 (D) against the Congress candidate.
Congress candidates Lipika Neog Gogoi (494) defeated Pinju Phukan (392) of BJP in Ward No. 4, Sarifa Begum (1154) defeated Lima Sarmah (1016) of BJP in Ward No. 12(A) and Heena Rahman (597) defeated AGP candidate Syeda Taslima Rahman (301) in Ward No. 14(D). On the other hand, independent candidates Newman Pegu (563) defeated BJP candidate Jayanta Gogoi (334) in Ward No. 5(A).
BJP has won 9 seats out of 10 in Bihpuria Municipal Board. The rest of the seats under this civic body have been won by the AGP. BJP candidates Rita Sarmah Bhorali (343) defeated Congress candidate Nibedita Mudoi (234) in Ward No. 1, Shekhar Babur (428) defeated Subir Kar (281) in Ward No. 2, Deepsikha Borah (514) defeated Congress candidate Niranjan Gogoi (212) in Ward No. 3, Janmoni Hazarika (262) defeated AGP candidate Tulumoni Saikia (259) in Ward No. 4, Mintu Gogoi (267) defeated AGP candidate Madhurjya Borah (136) in Ward No. 5, Deepa Chetarjee (754) defeated Congress candidate Anima Das (272) in Ward No, 6, Dipak Sarkar (366) defeated independent candidate Surajit Biswas (352) in Ward No, 7, Rupali Lodh Dey (383) defeated Congress candidate Urmila Basfore (227) in Ward No. 8, and Kuki Sarmah (224) defeated Congress candidate Biju Kakati (91) in Ward No. 9. On the other hand, AGP candidate Tanushree Gogoi bagged the Ward No, 10 seat by defeating BJP candidate Huyankesh Ram B.
Opposition party Congress has proved itself to be the major party by winning 5 seats out of 10 under Narayanpur Municipal Board. In this civic body, BJP has won 3 seats and independent candidates has secured the rest of the two seats. Congress candidates Kushal Neog (263) defeated BJP candidate Ami Hazarika Baruah (193) in Ward No, 1(A), Rupa Borah (284) defeated BJP candidate Diganta Bhuyan (219) in Ward No, 2, Maya Chandak (152) defeated BJP candidate Anima Konwar Namchoom (119) in Ward No, 3(B), Jyotika Saikia (119) defeated BJP candidate Sewali Phukan Neog (114) in Ward No. 4 and Pallabi Hazarika (199) defeated BJP candidate Gunamoni Das in Ward No. 5(A). On the other hand, BJP candidates Suramoni Borah (228) defeated Congress candidate Rita Neog (202) in Ward No. 1(B), Biraj Bhuyan (135) defeated Congress candidate Puna Das (115) in Ward No. 3(A) and Junu Doley Deuri (195) defeated Congress candidate Sarothi Deuri in Ward No. 6(A). Independent candidates Harish Chandak (126) defeated BJP candidate Pawan Kumar Baruah (123) in Ward No. 5(B) and Jayanti Deuri (185) defeated BJP candidate Jibanti Deuri (44) in Ward No. 6(B).
In Dhakuakhana Municipal Board, BJP has won 9 seats out of 10 while independent candidates has achieved 1 seat. As per result, independent candidate Bogen Konwar (282) defeated Congress candidate Surajit Konwar (216) in Ward No. 1,
On the other hand, BJP candidattes Gunalata Lagasu Kutum (321) defeated Dipali Lagasu (268) of Congress in Ward No. 2, Sangita
Baruah (483) defeated Mitali Gogoi (266) of Congress in Ward No. 4,Manik Baruah (472) defeated Arabinda Sut (426) of Congress in Ward No. 4 : Tilen Das (482) defeated Prasanna Borah (231) of Congress in Ward No. 5, Swaroop Konwar (610) defeated Lalit Das of Congress (178) in Ward No. 6 : Chandama Gogoi (563) defeated Jahnabi Borah (355) of Congress in Ward No. 7, Dipali Das (567) defeated Puspa Borah (421) of Congress in Ward No. 8, Aparupa Dihingiya Dutta (538) defeated Pratima Chutia (167) of Congress in Ward No. 9 and Rajib Das (646) defeated Jatin Baishya (255) of Congress in Ward No. 10.
