BKWAC Secretariat office inaugurated at Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district

KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC), Mihiniswar Basumatary on Tuesday ceremonially inaugurated the Secretariat office of the new council temporarily in the auditorium located at Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district. Sanjari Nwgwr in Dhemaji district will be the centre of BKWAC administration from where the movement for the new council had started.

The CEM of BKWAC, Mihiniswar Basumatary inaugurated the Secretariat office in presence of chairman of the council, Gambaru Basumatary, deputy CEM Romeo P. Narzary and EMs. The CEM, deputy CEM, chairman and EMs of the new council assumed office on Tuesday.

CEM of BKWAC Basumatary thanked Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary for their pro-active role to form the new council for Boro Kachari people living outside BTR. He said that the BKWAC was a part of the clauses of the BTR Accord signed in 2020 for the development of socio-economic conditions, culture, language and literature of the Bodos, besides their constitutional rights and privileges. He said that his council would focus on development of infrastructure, education, agriculture, language, culture and literature. He called upon all to extend cooperation in ensuring peace and harmony to take the new council forward on the path of development.

Meanwhile, the general secretary and one of the EMs of BKWAC, Anil Basumatary informed that the charge handing over and oath-taking ceremony of the new executive body of United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO) would be held on March 7 at Bodoland Guest House, Khanapara in Guwahati. He also said that there would be a sub-secretariat of BKWAC in Guwahati for smooth functioning of the new council that spread across 21 districts of Assam.
