Blood donation camp organized, students urged to create Awareness

MANGALDAI: “Blood donation is the greatest gift to mankind as a single drop of blood can save a precious life and Indian tradition and culture has taught us not to take blood, but to shed it for the motherland. Blood donation itself is a strong instrument to wipe out the division in the society in the name of religion as in the hour of crisis, nobody cares for the religion or the caste of the blood donors,” said young and dynamic legislator of Mangaldai, Guru Jyoti Das while inaugurating the day-long blood donation camp organized by the NCC wing of Mangaldai College on Wednesday.

“The NCC officer of Mangaldai College, Major Harimon Deka is one of the prominent and regular blood donors of the country as he already has donated his blood 70 times,” added the legislator while congratulating Major Harimon Deka. He also made an earnest appeal to all the students and the young generation to take part in creating awareness on blood donation and also to come forward to save a precious life by donating blood.

Assistant Commissioner Monika Borgohain, taking part in the inaugural function, appreciated the initiative of the cadets of NCC for organizing such a noble mission in the college. Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Mamoni Hazarika, Dr. Nirmal Beria, and Dr. Yamin Ali,

NCC Officer Leena Saikia, media persons Ganesh Dutta and Bhargab Kumar Das and all the teachers and students of Mangaldai College also attended the blood donation camp.

Members of ‘Unity- We the Blood Donors’, who have been continuing their relentless effort and initiative to create awareness on blood donation in the entire district, also took part in the camp. Blood donors Shekhar Mazumdar, Dipak Deka, and Prasanta Subrata were also offered felicitation in the function in appreciation of their role to save the lives of several needy patients by donating blood.
