Bodo organizations to honour social worker Harichandra Boro

KOKRAJHAR: Various organizations of the Bodos in Rangia, including Rangia district Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Kamrup district committee, ABSU, United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), Dularai Bathou Gouthum and Rangia district Tribal Sangha has decided to honour Harichandra Boro, a great social worker of Bhatkuchi, Rangia on May 14.

Sources said the four Bodo organizations will host a special meeting at Hardatta-Birdatta Bhavan on May 14 where Harichandra Boro would be felicitated and honoured with a title for his contribution to the society. The felicitation programme would be chaired by the president of Rangia district BSS, Madan Chadra Boro. Harichandra Boro has made a lot of contribution to the society and is associated with social organizations and Bathou. He is a selfless and dedicated person of the Rangia area and the Bodos.

According to sources, the CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro will grace the programme as the chief guest while the president of the ABSU, Dipen Boro will attend as the special guest. Besides, president of Assam Pradesh BJP and local MLA Bhabesh Kalita, former minister of Assam, Thaneswar Boro, EM of BKWAC, Pranab Boro, EM of BTC, Pabitra Boro and general secretary of Dularai Bahtou Gouthum, Ganesh Daimary will attend the open meeting as the guests of honour.

Meanwhile, former president of the BSS, Taren Boro will release a book written on the contributions of Harichandra Boro.
