Bodo representatives from various organizations rebuff BTR Accord

KOKRAJHAR: Bodo representatives from various organizations, including Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), All Bodo Women's Welfare Federation (ABWWF), Bodo Primary Teachers' Association, Boro Women's Justice Forum, National Bodo Christian Coordination Committee, All Bathou Mahasabha and intellectuals on Tuesday categorically dismissed the BTR Accord signed on January 27 between the Government of India, Government of Assam, ABSU, four factions of NDFB and UBPO.

The meeting held at Bathou Complex, Kokrajhar and chaired by the president of the BPF Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday observed that the BTR Accord was much inferior of the Bodo Accord of 2003 signed between the Government of India, Government of Assam and the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) in New Delhi and was likely to affect what was achieved through the 2003 Accord. It also discussed on the analysis done by renowned Bodo historians and scholars who recently observed that the new accord had nothing to offer to the community in matters of development, safety, security of the community, land, culture and economy.

Speaking with a section of media person, the president of the BSS, Taren Boro said the BTR Accord, which could not grant general amnesty to NDFB chief Ranjan Daimary, had nothing to offer to the community as a whole. He said the meeting discussed on the new BTR accord under the president ship of former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary. He said the BSS wanted peaceful co-existence and solution of problems of the Bodos. He also called upon all the leaders and workers of political parties like BPF and UPPL to stay away from mudslinging between each other for the greater interest of the society.

In the meeting, the representatives of as many as 22 organizations of the Bodos took part. Dr. Jagat Chandra Basumatary, Principal of Salbari College, Gabinda Narzary, Sahitya Akademi Award winner and writer Dr Subungsha Mashahary were invited to the meeting.
