KOKRAJHAR: A day making objectionable comments against the Gandhi family, central executive member of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Bharat Sarmah was suspended from the membership of both primary and CWC of BPF.
In a press statement, the general secretary of the central committee of BPF, Maneswar Brahma said the BPF had suspended CWC member Bharat Sarmah of Kokrajhar for his remarks against the Gandhi family during a press briefing in Kokrajhar on September 20 at his residence. He said the suspension of Sarmah was effective from September 21.
Bharat Sarmah allegedly said that Indira Gandhi was from the Nehru family and she got married to Feroz Khan, thus her children and grandchildren could not be called Gandhi and they must be called Khan. He also said that the Gandhi family was against the interest of the Sanatan or Hindu religion.
