KOKRAJHAR: In a fresh attack, the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) has come down heavily against the Vice-Chancellor of Bodoland University (BU), Prof Laishram Ladu Singh for his alleged lackadaisical attitude towards the development of university.

The ABSU on Thursday sought immediate intervention of the Assam Governor and Chancellor of BU, Prof. Jagadish Mukhi to sort out the lapses and mismanagement of the university administration. The union strongly warned that it would stage university gherao programme on November 5 if the present crisis was not resolved.

Talking to reporters today, ABSU president Dipen Boro said there had been massive lapses and mismanagement in the BU administration. He said there had been exchanges of blows between the students and the university administration over the unbelievably poor result of semester-III in different streams. Most of the students of various colleges under Bodoland University got even zero marks in the result although they claimed doing well in the examination, he said, adding that the union has discussed the matter with the varsity administration and they too claimed that there had been no lapses in preparing question set and conduct of examination but the students did not do well. He said mudslinging between the varsity authority and students was turning from bad to worse, for which the ABSU was compelled to find out the reason for the unexpected poor result.

Boro said over 12,000 students of different colleges under BU appeared in the semester-III examination of which only 3,000 passed out. He said the pass percentage was unbelievable and alleged that there had been massive corruption and mismanagement in the BU and in every examination- be it undergraduate and postgraduate- the results had errors. He said the ABSU had been raising its voice against the lapses and mismanagement in the BU but no reform was in sight. He also alleged that BU had given the responsibility of preparing the result sheet to an agent based in Kolkata who had no idea about BU.

The ABSU alleged that both the Vice Chancellor and the Controller of Examination of BU were playing with the future of students and plotting to destroy Bodoland University. He said they had written to the Chancellor and the State Education Minister to remove both the Vice Chancellor and the Controller of Examination for their lackadaisical attitude.

Meanwhile, students of 42 colleges under BU have been protesting against the university authority for their alleged mismanagement for the last couple of days on shift basis. On Thursday, students of 17 colleges protested in front of Bodoland University.
