Bongaigaon doctors stage protest against assault on doctor

BONGAIGAON: Doctors of Bongaigaon under the banner of Indian Medical Association and Indian Railway Medical Service Association staged a demonstration on Monday at Bongaigaon Railway Hospital. They protested against the assault on a doctor at Maligaon Railway Central Hospital.

Dr S K Das, president of IMA, Bongaigaon district, said that on September 3, a doctor on duty at Maligaon Railway Hospital, Dr Manish Sing was assaulted by a Railway employees' union leader.

"Munin Saikia, general secretary of N F Railway Employees' Union, had come to visit the doctor and for some unknown reason, he and his followers had physically and mentally assaulted the doctor in his chamber. We condemn this activity. Dr Sing has lodged FIR at Goshala Police outpost and also complained to the Railway administration. But no fruitful result has come out. So we demand that the culprit should be punished immediately," he said.
