Bongaigaon Police arrested one for uploading fake news about COVID-19

Bongaigaon: The government has started to take strict action against people spreading fake news and rumours regarding COVID-19. One Surajit Ray, resident of Vakarivita area of Bongaigaon, was arrested by Bongaigaon Police on Saturday for posting fake news about COVID-19 on his WhatsApp status. Police have registered a case (case no. 296/20 of Bongaigaon Police Station) under Section 54 of Disaster Management Act 2005 and under Section 66 of IT Act 2000 in Bongaigaon Police Station (IPC Section 188/504).
