DHUBRI: The 62nd Indian Oil Day was celebrated in a befitting manner at Bongaigaon Refinery recently at the event hall. The ceremony, which saw the physical presence of a very few selected invitees only, was attended by other invitees and employees of BGR on virtual platform. The event was chaired by S P Baruah, ED & Refinery Head.

Addressing the gathering, Baruah conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the entire team of BGR on the momentous occasion and saluted the contributions and hard work made by the visionaries and the leaders who conceived and nurtured the organisation and congratulated all who were and are a part of it. Sharing the performance of Bongaigaon Refinery achieving critical milestones in the COVID times, Baruah urged BGRians to renew their commitment to Indian Oil vision –'The Energy of India' and imbibe Indian Oil's core values of 'Care, Innovation, Passion and Trust' in their work culture.

As part of the celebrations, Shram Veer Productivity & Innovation Award- 2021 conducted by Assam Productivity council was also conferred to Ankur Gogoi, Jr. Quality Control Analyst, QC Laboratory Department, and to Jogen Gogoi, Sr. Engg. Asstt-IX, Mechanical Maintenance Central workshop, who was the runners-up.

A Special Suggestion Scheme drive on the 'Year of Opportunity' had been conducted as a run-up to the Indian Oil Day. The winners of this competition were also awarded during the programme.

The Group functional awards on Suggestion Scheme was awarded to P&U and Electrical Department. Production Borgoyary, a promising young archer, who has brought laurels to the State, was also felicitated and honored with a cheque from Bongaigaon Refinery. Borgoyary is the recipient of Gold medal in the 39th senior recurve National Championship, 2018 held at Odisha and won the silver in the 40th Junior National Archery Championship, 2018 at Bhopal.

The Hindi Pakhwada scheduled from September 1 to September 15 was also formally inaugurated during the programme. SP Baruah administrated the Rajbhasa Hindi Pledge and launched a special hindi e- magazine Alok. The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of nine retired employees who had attained the age of 75 years. There were nine such former employees and some of them joined the event through virtual link.
