Bongaigaon Refinery's foundation day celebrated

BONGAIGAON: The foundation day of Bongaigaon Refinery was celebrated on Tuesday in a befitting manner.

In his address at the official function held in the RCCC auditorium, CGM & Refinery Head, SP Baruah congratulated Team BGR and said that during the past five decades, Bongaigaon Refinery had covered many milestones. The journey of the Refinery, that began with the laying of the foundation stone on January 19, 1972 to incorporation of Bongaigaon Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (BRPL) on February 20, 1974 and finally merger with IOCL in 2009, was indeed a remarkable one. The erstwhile BRPL and now BGR has successfully adopted itself to new and changing business scenarios as and when the need arose, and has gained the goodwill and support from people of the region because of its role in meeting the energy needs and its contribution towards the development of the socio-economic conditions of the region, he said. He also expressed gratitude to all the stakeholders for their tireless efforts in making Bongaigaon Refinery a household name.

Baruah further added that BGRians should continue to focus on increasing performance, innovation, value addition, cost consciousness, environmental protection and customer satisfaction. Stressing on the theme for the year 2021 –'Year of Opportunities', Baruah said, "It is inspiring each one of us to put the past behind and hope for the well being of humanity and the revival of the economy. It encourages team BGR, especially the young generation, to seize challenges and convert them to opportunities."

The message of SM Vaidya, chairman of Indian Oil, especially addressing BGRians on the occasion, was read out by KailashPati, CGM (PJ).

PranabanandaBharali, former director of OIL, who graced the occasion as the special guest of honour, shared his experiences as a part-time director of BRPL. He spoke about the preparedness of an organization to meet the challenges of the future and also highlighted the importance of team work in realizing the vision of the organization and fulfilling the nation's goals.
