Border Security Force seized 15 kg of Marijuana near Indo-Bangla Border in South Salmara

Mankachar: Huge amount of marijuana (ganja) consignments seized by the Border Security Force (BSF) at the border regions of South Salmara’s Kakoripara in Indo-Bangla border on Wednesday at around 5 am.

As per report, Border Security Force (BSF) had recovered a total of 15 kilos of marijuana at the No. 6 Border Check Post in Kakoripara of South Salmara District. It is to be noted that three packets weighing 5 kilos each valued almost Rs 75,000 (approx).

Speaking in connection to the matter, The BSF officials stated that such illegal trade of marijuana is common in the border regions, but, no arrests have been made by the Assam Police in connection to matter over the years. “We have recovered these ganjas during our patrolling duty,” said one of the BSF personnel.

It may be mentioned that these marijuanas were illegally exported to Bangladesh via Border check post in the region. On the other hand, the consignments are then taken care of by the Bangladeshi counterparts who are equally engaged in these illegal trades in the border check posts on the other side of Indo-Bangla border areas.

Meanwhile, the seized marijuana’s were handed over to South Salmara Police Station for further verification on the matter.
