BPF forms 53-member Election Management Committee, claims to recapture Kokrajhar-LS seat in upcoming elections

Kokrajhar: On Wednesday, Bodoland People's Front (BPF) conducted a party meeting at Hotel Arnai in Kokrajhar District. In the meeting, Bodoland Territorial Chief (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary formed a 53-member Election Management Committee headed by Kiran Chandra Basumatary and Santala Basumatary.

Speaking to the media, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary admitted that their head to head contest for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in Kokrajhar Constituency will be against the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) supported by the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU). Criticizing ABSU leaders, BTC chief also claimed them to be the biggest challenge in Bodoland.

He also stated that AGP-BJP alliance wouldn't affect the Bodoland People's Front in BTC region, however, both the parties coming out together to form an alliance is good.

Furthermore, BTC chief has announced to organize election meetings ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in all the Legislative Assembly Constituencies of BTC. The first election meeting will be held at Gossaigaon Legislative Assembly.

On being asked about the BPF's chances in making to win the MP seat for Kokrajhar Constituency, Hagrama Mohilary said, "We are confident, and BPF will surely clinch the victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for Kokrajhar LS seat," said Hagrama Mohilary.

On the other, Minister of Social Welfare and Soil Conservation of the state and Senior BPF leader, Pramila Rani Brahma expressed her gratitude towards the party for selecting her as the next contender for the Lok Sabha elections. She also stated to perform her field study before coming into the battleground. “If I’m voted into power, I will surely do my best for the people of BTC,” claimed Pramila Rani Brahma.

Also, praising BJP party, Pramila Rani Brahma said that the party is doing well in the central level and surely one can accept better promises from the Narendra Modi-led BJP Government for the upcoming elections.

Earlier, on Tuesday, BTC Chief formally announced Pramila Rani Brahma as MP candidate from Kokrajhar at a BPF Central Working Committee meeting held at Barama area under Baksa District.
