KOKRAJHAR: One of the secretaries of Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and ex-MLA from Bijni Kamalsing Narzary has joined Pramod Boro-led United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) along with some of more members of BPF in a joining ceremony held at Gargagaon, South Bijni in Chirang district on Friday. The president of the UPPL and Chief Executive Member (CME) of BTR Pramod Boro welcomed Narzary and other members and felicitated with Aronai.

Narzary won from Bijni three times as MLA in 2006, 2011 and 2016. He was the secretary of the party since its formation and worked hard for the party. He was defeated by a small margin of 1000 votes by BJP candidate Ajay Kr. Roy in 2021. His desertion of BPF and joining UPPL has surprised the party workers as many senior BPF leaders, close associates of party chief Hagrama Mohilary and elected representatives of the council have joined either BJP or UPPL for reasons best known to them.

After joining the UPPL, Narzary said the UPPL led by Pramod Boro had been concentrating on smooth implementation of all clauses of BTR accord with sincerity and honesty. CEM of BTC Pramod Boro said the primary aims and objectives of the UPPL were establishing permanent peace and stability and carrying out effective development. He said UPPL's other objectives are to deliver equal development, rights and justice to all communities living in the council. Welcoming the joining of ex-BPF MLA Kamalsing Narzary in UPPL, Boro said it was a good sign to work together for the betterment of the society, to fulfil its commitment with sincerity and honesty. He also said that more BPF leaders were joining UPPL in the days to come.

Boro inaugurated the newly completed boundary wall of ITI in Bijni on the same day and hoped that the institute will give opportunities in different fields to the unemployed youths. He was accompanied by BTC Speaker Katiram Boro, EM Dhananjay Basumatary, president of Bijni district UPPL Phanin Boro and TCLCC (Territorial Council Level Coordination Committee) chairman Jatirindra Brahma and others.
