KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Saturday took out a huge rally in Kokrajhar to garner support. The rally started at Kokrajhar Railway Flyover moved towards Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road to DN Himatsingha field via Bhattarmari. A grand public meeting was held at DN Himatsingha field where BPF president Hagrama Mohilary addressed the gathering.
Talking to media persons, the president of BPF Hagrama Mohilary said, “The BPF had been receiving tremendous public support in all BTC districts and will come out victorious with absolute majority with an alliance with any party. He also claimed that the BPF will form next council government with majority numbers.
Responding to queries on the unification move by the Bodo democratic organizations, Mohilary said he was not against the unification of BPF and UPPL but the UPPL should clear its stand if they are really interested in the move. He said, “I sent my response in written form to the leading Bodo organizations who initiated the unification move but UPPL president Pramod Boro gave a verbal go ahead. He said giving a verbal response to the initiator was not acceptable. Boro must give written response. He also said there was no necessary to hold a big joint press conference by the ABSU, BSS, Ex-BLT Welfare Cooperative Society and Ex-NDFB Welfare Association over the move before getting written response from UPPL.
Meanwhile, UPPL president in an interview with a section of media persons said the unification move by the democratic organizations was a laudable initiative. He said he had no objection to the appeal made by the leading democratic organizations who think for the betterment of the society and work for the society. He said he will never oppose the move if the people of all communities want unification. Additionally, he stated that the move's success would rely on how well the BPF responds.
