Briefing session for zonal and sector officers held in Chirang

KOKRAJHAR: With only one day remaining for Assembly election in the district, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chirang, on Sunday convened a meeting for last minute briefing to Zonal and Sector Officers from both civil and police administration engaged in 31-Sidli (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) in the premises of district parade ground at Kajalgaon.

The meeting was conducted to formulate and review a joint strategy and to discuss key issues related to roles and responsibilities of zonal and sector officers including law and order during the day of poll or day before the poll.

Addressing the meeting, Sudhakar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Chirang, and Additional Deputy Commissioners Anupam Deka and Ringkhang Mashahary stressed for ensuring error-free polling process and asked both civil and police Zonal and Sector officers of the same area to share their mobile numbers and maintain active coordination among them for smooth conduct of election in the district.

Further they said that the Zonal and Sector officers should be well familiar with the locations of the polling stations, route map, transport and communication plans, besides reporting about any law and order situation to the control rooms set up at the Deputy Commissioner's office and SP's office time to time.

They also informed about the roles and responsibilities of zonal and sector officers during election and asked them to act as a felicitator during the election process for free, fair and smooth conduct of elections.

As such, in his speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ringkhang Mashahary instructed them to be extra careful on end-to-end movement of all reserve EVMs and VVPATs which would be carried only in the allotted vehicles of civil sector officers. He also informed about the arrangement of extra vehicles and their positions to be available for replacement if by any chance the vehicles carrying polling personnel got damaged or down.

The meeting was attended by three Indian Police Service probationers, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratap Das, 9 civil zonal, 27 civil sector officers.
