LAKHIMPUR: Vehemently protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, four activists of the Lakhimpur district unit of Brihattar Asomiya Yuva Mancha (BAYM) staged a mundan (tonsure) protest at Main Chariali of North Lakhimpur town.

These activists - BAYM Lakhimpur president Chiranjit Bordoloi, working president Anupam Saikia, secretary Bikash Bhumiz, and North Lakhimpur regional unit president Dipjyoti Kalita - shaved their heads as a mark of protest against the controversial bill.

The four activists came down heavily against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal regarding their stand on the controversial bill, which was a threat to the demographical existence of the Assamese people, they said. They declared that the activists of the organization were ready to commit mass suicide if the bill was passed.
