BSF, Guwahati seizes Yaba tablets; one held in South Salmara district

GUWAHATI: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force Ex-06 Bn BSF, seized 8,000 Yaba tablets and Rs 35,000 from bordering area of village Kaleralga in South Salmara district on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of BOP Boreralga carried out a special operation near the international border and apprehended an Indian national along with the Yaba tablets and cash while he was trying to smuggle it from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended Yaba tablet courier has been identified as Kabel Ali (28) of South Salmara district.

An FIR has been lodged at Kharuabanda police station against the apprehended person under the NDPS/Drug and Cosmetic Act and he along with seized items were handed over to the police for further action.
