BSF jawans donate plasma to Silchar Medical College and Hospital

SILCHAR: The valour and heroic spirit of BSF jawans in peace and war times as well as their zeal to contribute their mite towards social welfare are always well admired and well appreciated. Even after being infected by COVID-19 virus during their routine assigned works, hospitalisation and recovery, 3 of them came forward to donate blood plasma to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Vishram Meena attached with 90 Bn BSF of Mizoram Cachar Frontier donated his plasma voluntarily on Tuesday. On Monday, Sepoy Pranay Sarkar of Bn 7 and Sub Inspector Narendra Kumar of 60 Bn. Both Sarkar and Kumar tested positive during routine check, got admitted in the COVID Ward of SMCH and came around.

The Jawans under treatment could understand the importance of plasma to save human lives. Meena, Sarkar and Kumar wished to do something and responded to the call of Health Department. All three sportingly did what could be expected from them as soldiers of the frontiers who besides ensuring safety and security of the country played their most appreciable role in saving human lives. Medical experts are of the opinion plasma can give life to a sinking COVID-19 patient. State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and SMCH felicitated the Jawans with letter of appreciation for their exemplary contributions.
