BSF Troops destroyed illegal cultivation of Hemp in a joint operation in Coochbehar

Guwahati: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force carried out a joint operation for the destruction of illegal cultivation of hemp in the bordering area of Dinhata (Coochbehar).

The troops of BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a joint operation for destruction of illegal cultivation of hemp with Police, Excise department and Civil authorities under supervision of BDO, Dinhata, in general area of village - Petbhatha, Sewdagudi, Bajejama, Bajejama Paschim, Belwadi Bazar, Chaudagudi and B J Jura under PS Dinhata, District Coochbehar (WB).

During the operations, 64 patches of cultivated land consisting of approximately 43000 plants of hemp were destroyed.

Hemp, or industrial hemp, is a strain of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products. It is one of the fastest-growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 10,000 years ago.
