BSS and UBPO hail granting 12B status to Bodoland University (BU)

KOKRAJHAR: Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) on Sunday hailed the UGC for granting 12B status to Bodoland University (BU) and said that the move would fulfil the long cherished dream. The president of the BSS, Taren Boro and general secretary Prasanta Boro on Sunday said the 12B status to BU granted by the UGC was praiseworthy. Citing BU, the only higher educational institution in BTC region, the Sabha leaders said the move of the UGC for granting 12B status would ensure the development of education in a backward region like BTC. They thanked the chief of BTC for his initiative. Meanwhile, the president of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary also hailed the 12B status to BU. He said after getting the status, the BU would be able to control the academic section of colleges of the region under it.

Bodoland University was granted 12B status by the UGC on November 1. The Bodoland Students’ Union (BSU) also thanked Dr. Prahalad Basumatary, Registrar of BU, Dr. Rajesh Barman, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce, BU, and Dr. Kiran Hazarika, UGC member from Northeast India, for the hardwork and dedication to make the dream come true.
