KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) witnessed a major milestone on Friday when BTC Chief Pramod Boro led a high-level delegation to meet Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

Boro spoke at the meeting about the active involvement of the BTR youth in national security-related activities, including joining Indian Armed Forces recruitment rallies.

In addition to the growing engagement of the region with the Armed Forces, Boro presented a proposal to the Defence Minister for setting up a dedicated unit by the name of "Territorial Army Home and Hearth Battalion" for BTR.

This initiative is designed as a special platform for youth from the region to enlist themselves in the Indian Army, thereby contributing to the safety of the country.

The BTC Chief was of the opinion that this special regiment would stimulate the youth of the region to take keen interest in defense services and instill a sense of national pride and patriotism.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed gratitude for the BTR government's interest in enhancing youth participation in national defence. He promised that the proposal would be seriously considered. The meeting represents a key step towards building the relationship between BTR and the overall national framework of defence.
