Kokrajhar: The political equation, including unification and seat sharing between the ruling BPF and UPPL ahead of BTC election slated next year is still not in sight as much expected by common masses. Talking to newsmen in a foundation stone laying ceremony for RCC bridge, the president of BPF Hagrama Mohilary, who is also the Chief of BTC, on Thursday said that the move for political unification between the BPF and UPPL was going on. He said that both the parties were discussing on the sharing of seats and other common issues. The unification becomes the need of the hour but there is no concrete decision from the UPPL, adding that whatever may be the outcome but efforts on unification is going on. He also said that the talks would be continuing.

Mohilary said that there should be only one political party in BTC to topple down anti BTC and communal politics being played by O-Boro group led by MP Naba Kr Sarania. He said that the BPF should be the only party in BTC region and all parties of the Bodos should come under a political platform. He also assured that the BPF will send UPPL president UG Brahma to Rajya Sabha if he comes for unification. He also said that the seat sharing beyond their winning constituencies would be made if things go as expected.

Meanwhile, the president of the UPPL UG Brahma in a press meet held at Kokrajhar Press Club on Friday said they had always welcomed the move for political unification but it appears to be not clear enough from other side. He said that there had been no discussion on seat sharing so far other than communication for the discussion. He said that the political unity and understanding was urgent need to defeat the divisive forces of MP Naba Kr Sarania who being elected representative has been involving in communal politics.

Brahma ruled out that his party will come to the fold of BPF as claimed by BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary but it will support the seat sharing formula which also should be with due honour on each other. He said that Mohilary on Thursday demanded that there should be only a political party that is BPF, and UPPL should come under it for joint fight with the divisive forces. He said that if Mohilary really wanted to go to poll fight with single party then he should dissolve BPF first and the UPPL will also follow it for the greater interest of the people of the region. He also said that if Mohilary was not in a position to dissolve his party then he should concentrate on seat sharing with a faithful approach.

On offering Rajya Sabha seat to him, Brahma said if Mohilary wants to accommodate the seat he should offer to the UPPL not to UG Brahma as the party will decide. He also asked the leaders of the parties not to politicize the move of unification for politics. He also hinted that the UPPL could accept the political negotiation if seat sharing formula goes well and said they had sincere respect on unification move as well.

Brahma slammed MP Naba Kr Sarania for playing divisive politics in BTC region with Boro and OBoro. He said it was unfortunate that the public representative like Sarania was involving in communal politics by avoiding to work and raise the issue of economic, social, militancy, law and order and other common problems of the constituency and beyond
