BTC EM assures to provide adequate irrigation facilities

KALAIGAON: The Executive Member (EM) of Irrigation Department, BTC, Diganta Barua, while interacting with media persons at his office in Kalaigaon on Wednesday evening, assured that he would look into providing adequate irrigation facilities under SOPD scheme, especially to farmers of Udalguri district where potable water is a big crisis.

On the eve of completion of one year of the present Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) government led by Pramod Boro and supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and GSP (Gana Suraksha Party), EM Barua thanked CEM Pramod Bodo and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their bold steps to bring effective development in BTC. Barua also said in the press conference that during this year, altogether 83 irrigation schemes were completed to provide water facilities to farmers of BTC. Moreover, he announced that the half done Dhansiri Irrigation Project would be completed soon.

A total of 73 schemes were constructed under SOPD for the year 2020-21 with estimated cost of Rs.11.70 crore while another 87 schemes were repaired for the year 2021-22 with estimated cost of Rs. 12.10 crore.
