BTC Polls: Himanta Biswa Sarma campaigning extensively in Gossaigaon ahead of Phase II

Gossaigaon: Ahead of the second phase of elections for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) state's Finance Minister and BJP mascot Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen participating in the campaign rallies of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the sub-division of Kokrajhar district of Assam.

Speaking at the election campaign of BJP held at Babubil area in Gossagaon, Kokrajhar, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that during the 15-year rule of the Bodoland People's Front ( BPF) only corruption and mismanagement had happened in the region. Now the people of the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) want to get rid of these things. They want a change. And this change will be brought by BJP in the four Districts of BTADthis time by forming government in BTC. Nileswar Ray, the BJP party candidate of No 2 Guma constituency was present at the rally.

Sarma further stated that to build a developing and corruption-free society, establish equality, development, equal status BJP needs to be given a chance.

Speaking at an election rally held at Naudari in Bijni, Chirang district on Monday, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal had promised to eradicate corruption from the BTC and establish equality, development, equal status, and permanent peace for the people of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) if BJP is voted to power.

After the campaign rally in Gossaigaon, Himanta Biswa Sarma also visited No. 5 Sharaibil constituency and No. 3. Srirampur constituency for the campaigning.

The Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and State's Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen actively participating in campaigning in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts ahead of the second phase of the BTC polls.

The first phase of the BTC polls was held on Monday (December 7) in the Baksa and Udalguri districts of BTAD for 21seats. Fate of 130 candidates were sealed on Monday. The voting percentage was 77% till 7pm. The second phase of the BTC polls will be held on December 10 in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts for 19 seats. BTC has total 40 seats.

The counting of votes will take place on December 12.
