BTR Bandh Paralyzes Normalcy In Udalguri

Protesting the encounter of the two Bodo youth purportedly by police the bandh was called on Monday from dawn to dusk. However, schools and pharmacies are exempted from the bandh.

After singing in the BTR peace accord this is the first bandh called in the region.

The organization alleged that the police carried out the encounter by assuming two Bodo youths as fake extremists.

Earlier, a new militant outfit has been formed by some youths demanding a separate Bodo state. In a video, that has gone viral on social media, it is seen that a group of youths donning military camouflage and wearing black face cover resented against the Boro Peace Treaty signed among the Centre, the Assam government and former militant groups of the BTAD.

A youth, who is thought as the leader of the group, christened as United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) said that they are not happy with the Peace Treaty and hence they returned to the jungle. "We have got a small piece of land as per the Boro Peace Treaty. It could not fulfil our hopes and aspirations. So, we have returned to the jungle. We demand separate Boro state", the youth said with folded hands.

He also expressed displeasure over the role played by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state government and the Centre in the matters related to the Boro Peace Treaty. The forming of the new militant group may create unrest in the BTAD area again.
