BTR CEM Pramod Boro distributes appointment letters to teachers in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro on Monday ceremonially distributed appointment letters to over 2,000 teachers through a special programme held at the BTC Secretariat field, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar in presence of Executive Members and officials of the department concerned.

As many as 2,160 teachers from LP schools to colleges of four BTR districts received appointment letters from BTR chief Pramod Boro. The Principal Secretary of BTC, Anant Lal Gyani read out the key note address while the Director of Education, BTC, Jagadish Prasad Brahma elaborated about the distribution of appointment letters. The programme was attended by BTC Speaker Katiram Boro, EMs-Reo Reoa Narzihary, Arup Kr. Dey, Daobaisa Boro, Gautam Das, Ghanashyam Das, Ukhil Mashahary, Dr. Nilut Sargiary, MP Naba Kr. Sarania and former Rajya Sabha MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma.

In his address, the chief of BTR, Pramod Boro said that it was unfortunate that only Assam had venture school status in India while in other States there were only government and private schools. He said that due to lack of provincialized schools, the results of the vernacular medium schools were poor and not at all in the desired level. He said that the successive governments in Assam had failed to bring any new policy to solve the problems of the vernacular medium as well as teachers' shortcomings.

Boro said that most of the teachers of venture schools had rendered their service for at least 20 to 30 years without getting a single penny. "I have deep sympathy and concern for the teachers who have served for over 20-30 years with an empty stomach, and I respect them," he said, adding that he would give maximum attention to solving the problems of teachers and education-related matters. He said that his government would work for quality education in the days to come by bringing a new education policy separately for BTR. He also said that they would come up with a Bodoland Education Policy involving educationists, teachers, academicians and experts to overcome the problems of education. He also said that his government would give support to students through motivation camp and financial support. He further said that his government would take effective policy for education with highest priority.

The chief of BTR said that there were more venture schools which had to be provincialized as per clause of the accord. He said that they came to a decision with the governments of India and Assam before the BTR accord to provincialize the venture schools and colleges in BTC region on priority basis and the same would be done for the schools and colleges which fulfil criteria and norms. He also said that his government would take necessary action for the extension of classrooms in schools across BTR.
