KOKRAJHAR: Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro on Saturday formally inaugurated the piped water supply scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at Bhotgaon in presence of Executive Members Dr Nilut Swargiary and Arup Kumar Dey.

Talking to reporters, the BTR Chief said that under the JJM, residents in rural areas will be provided pure drinking water. He said 2.5 lakh people will get regular water supply under JJM in the Bodoland region in the next two years. He expressed hope that under the JJM, the problem of safe and pure water faced by the people will be solved.

BTR Executive Member Dr Nilut Swargiary said that two completed retrofitting works of Bhotgaon PWSS and Fakiragram Purani Bazar PWSS under Kokrajhar PHE Division were inaugurated in Kokrajhar district on the same day.

The JJM is a joint initiative of the State and Central governments to bring drinking water to all rural households in the State. The project is aimed at making pure water available in all rural households.

The programme was also attended by other district officials of the PHE department, beneficiaries and contractors.
