Bye-election: Polling peaceful in Thowra constituency
For the first time the bye-election was held in Thowra constituency on Saturday.

DEMOW: For the first time the bye-election was held in Thowra constituency on Saturday. The Thowra constituency in Sivasagar district has the lowest number of voters. There are 1,15,971 voters in Thowra constituency and among them 58,607 are males and 57,363 are females. In 145 polling stations the polling was done.
Sushanta Borgohain, the BJP-led alliance candidate has cast his vote in 55 A No Raichai Town High School on Saturday morning. Manuranjan Konwar, INC candidate of Thowra Constituency has cast his vote in Konwar Dehingia Primary School. Dhaijya Konwar, Independent candidate of Thowra Constituency has cast his vote in 21 No Rupahibam Primary School. All the voters followed COVID protocol in the voting centres. Till the filing of this report, the polling percentage was 75.07 per cent till 5 pm. The percentage of turnout is expected to increase as final report is awaited. No untoward incident was reported till the filing of this report.
