SILCHAR: A preparatory meeting in connection with 75th Independence Day celebration was held at the conference hall of Deputy commissioner's office here on Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by District Development commissioner of Cachar Rajib Roy. At the outset of the meeting Cachar DDC Rajib Roy reviewed the progress made in implementing the programme of 75th Independence Day on August 15 by maintaining COVID protocol. In this connection, Rajib Roy instructed the officials concerned to complete all preparatory work two days prior to the ceremony.

After a threadbare discussion it was unanimously decided that the DSA ground, Silchar is selected as the venue for the ceremonial flag hoisting of 75th independence Day. It was informed in the meeting that relay of patriot songs will be relayed from 5.30am to 6.30 pm through FLS of Regional office of Information & public relations Barak valley zone office, at 7am hoisting of National flag at private residences and establishments by all citizens. Hoisting of National flag at all government office buildings and educational institutions will be held at 7.45am following a community singing of National Anthem.

Doctors, health workers and sanitisation members will be felicitated. It was also informed that a vaccination drive will be conducted in connection with the day's celebration on August 12 and August 13 which will be organised by Joint Director of Health, Cachar.

During the meeting, discussion was also held to organise an essay competition in digital platform avoiding congregation where all school students will participate through online. Inspector of schools and DEEO Cachar were asked to organise the same.

Cachar District Development Commissioner Rajib Roy insisted that the functions and other activities to be organised at the respective development blocks and therefore ,joint programmes by all development departments to be chalked out at each block and requested all departments to extend their sincere cooperation to make the programme a grand success, stated a press release.
