Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli distributes loom and accessories Special

SILCHAR: True to the declared policy of Sarbananda Sonowal government, target groups of people in rural areas of Cachar district have been receiving benefits under different projects, maintaining transparency and accountability. Monday was the day for the district administration along with the department of handloom and textiles as well as the department of fishery to meet the beneficiaries listed in villages and handover the incentive packages of projects to help them for economic uplift and development.

At Manipuri dominated village of Singerbond under Lakhipur sub division of Cachar, Deputy Commissioner, Keerthi Jalli, along with MLA Rajdeep Goala, officials of handloom and textiles department, distributed loom and accessories, jacquard machine and warping drum among 380 beneficiaries under cluster development project for 2018-19. The three year project involves Rs 2 crore. For the first one year, allotment was of Rs 66.6 lakh. The scheme also includes skill development, weaving, dyeing and designing.

The occasion was of great significance to Manipuri women in particular for their skill and efficiency in handloom and textile products, admired by all. Deputy Commissioner lauded the expertise of Manipuri women whom she described as hardworking. She also pointed out three challenges which they have to face, availability of yarn, diversification of products and marketing. "You all have the ability to overcome them by exploring all available resources." The administration and the department concerned are always ready to help on technical matter. The beneficiaries have only to see that the scheme is properly implemented.
