Cachar district administration takes measures against Coronavirus

Silchar: As the Coronavirus is spreading across the continents of the world with China its epicenter and WHO sounding alert and caution, there is now nationwide call for adopting precautionary measures. The Cachar district administration has been geared up to meet the challenge and counter the threat. As it is a potential threat to human lives, the priority has been placed on creating awareness about the symptoms of disease among general masses and to avert its possible ingression in the district. Surveillance has been mounted on the visitors from outside at strategic entry points.

In this connection, hotels and lodges have been asked to submit daily reports on a format made available to them about the visitors to the district surveillance office housed on the first floor of S M Dev Civil Hospital and the police stations in the respective areas. Non-compliance with the directive will be viewed seriously. A dedicated medical team has been deployed at Kumbhirgram airport by the joint director of health services and the superintendent of Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a screening of air go and in passengers.

Besides, an information kiosk has been set up at SMCH and S M Dev Civil Hospital for public awareness. Leaflets are being distributed from the kiosk. Natrip has been identified as a quarantine facility where suspected corona cases will be thoroughly ex rayed and examined and also as a part of the preparedness for COVID19. The orientation of doctors for the purpose has been completed and soon similar orientation of private health care providers will be arranged. The control room has been set up in the civil hospital and also an 8-bed isolation ward too.
