MANGALDAI: “Calligraphy training enhances teachers’ ability to present written content in an aesthetically pleasing manner, making lessons more engaging for young learners. It also improves handwriting skills, enabling teachers to model clear and legible writing for students to emulate. Additionally, it equips teachers with a creative tool to design visually appealing classroom materials, such as charts and posters.

In an era dominated by digital communication, this training emphasizes the importance of handwriting. Well-trained teachers can boost students’ confidence in their writing abilities through structured guidance. It also provides educators with a unique method to make storytelling and literacy activities more captivating,” said renowned calligraphy master trainer Tulsipriya Bordoloi of NE Unique Calligraphy—a unit of the ISO 9001:2015 certified company Mind Castle Mercantile—while inaugurating a six-day calligraphy training programme for primary teachers of Darrang district at Mangaldai Vidyapeeth High School. Senior journalist Bhargab Kumar Das also addressed the gathering.

The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), under the Education Department, has undertaken a commendable initiative to conduct this training programme in every district of the state. Under this initiative, two teachers from 200 primary schools in each district have participated, with 200 teachers receiving training in English handwriting and another 200 in Assamese handwriting.

The programme was ceremonially launched in the Kamrup Metro district. So far, 4,800 teachers from 2,400 schools across 12 districts of the state have taken part in the initiative.
