Car lifter Gang Busted along Assam-Nagaland Border in Karbi Anglong, Three Arrested

Bokajan: In a major crackdown, a notorious car lifter gang has been busted by the Dillai Police along with a stolen Hyundai Accent car in a routine check post over NH 36 along Assam-Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

As reported, the police personnel attached to the check post intercepted the vehicle heading towards Dimapur for regular inspection as the number plate appeared dubious. On cross verifying it was found that the documents were doctored and the registration number was tempered. Later, it was known that the vehicle had been lifted from Rajasthan and was bound for sale in Dimapur. Three persons viz. Ghanashyam Tanwar, Rabikant Sharma and Raju Basumatary have been arrested along with the stolen vehicle.

Notably, the prime accused Ghanashyam Tanwar of Rajasthan is a cab driver by profession and was earlier arrested by the Dillai police with a stolen Swift Dezire car back in March 2019.
