Caritas India, NGO ensures Children’s Good Health with Cleanliness

LAKHIMPUR: Caritas India, a leading non-governmental organization (NGO), initiated a unique programme in Lakhimpur in order to sensitize the importance of cleanliness with regard to ensuring good health of the children in connection with Children’s Day. On this occasion, the NGO organized a programme titled “A community attempt to ensure good health of the children with cleanliness” at Madhya Ranganadi Scheduled Tribe High School, under Naoboicha Block on Thursday, covering the students of Shantipur LP School, Borgoyan Khagari (ST) LP School.

As a part of the programme, an awareness rally on cleanliness was taken out with participation from the students, teachers, parents and mothers’ bodies of the schools, WaSH volunteers and Veerangana members of the NGO and local people displayed placards with various slogans, such as— Facility of pure drinking water is our right, Cleanliness is the root of good health, Clean environment is our right, No tree, no life, Use toilets etc. A series of competitions, like drawing on the theme of cleanliness along with singing and dancing were also organized in the programme with a view to enhancing the self-confidence, intellect, mentality of the children under the chairmanship of Jogyeswar Morang. Nikunja Nath and Bimal Nath took part as the judges of the competitions. Headmaster Bhuban Chandra Nath delivered encouraging lecture on the significance of the day, appreciating the unique initiative undertaken by Caritas India on the occasion. WaSH Co-ordinator of the NGO, Jepulin Dutta, in her speech, emphasized on cleanliness in environment and in society in order to ensure good health of the children who are the future of the nation.
