Cattle smuggler held at Indo-Bangla border by BSF, seized 19 cattle heads

Hatsingimari: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF) of Guwahati Frontier along with Assam Police jointly launched an operation at the border areas of Mankachar area under Kharuwa Bandha police outpost in South Salmara and apprehended one Bangladeshi National cattle smuggler and recovered at least 19 cattle heads on 12 May 2019.

Active on a tip-off, a special ambush laid by the BSF troops of Border outpost Kharuwa Bandha near International boundary of Indo-Bangladesh border. Alerted troops observed the suspicious movement of some miscreant’s along with cattle towards International Boundary in wee hours and accordingly they were challenged.

But the day did not pay any heed and tried to cross IB towards Bangladesh along with cattle. The alerted troops pursued the smugglers and apprehended the smuggler before they could cross the International Boundary (IB) along with 19 cattle heads.

Speaking to the media, a police official from Kharuwa Bandha police outpost said that in last two to three days Border Security Force had recovered at least 42 smuggled cattle heads from the Indo-Bangla border areas. “BSF had managed to arrest one out of the three cattle smugglers,” said the police official.

The apprehended Bangladeshi national was identified as Mozamil Haque.

A written FIR was lodged against the cattle smuggler at Kharuwa Bandha Police outpost.
