KHERONI: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), led by Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, is spearheading a series of landmark projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, culture, and public welfare in the district.
On Friday, CEM Ronghang inspected the ongoing construction of a 12.1-kilometer four-lane road from 8 Kilo Garden to Birla Bazar in Diphu, a flagship infrastructure project excluding a proposed flyover. Accompanied by MLA Darsing Ronghang (Howraghat), Executive Members Ritesh Enghi, Surjya Rongphar, Madhuram Lekhte, MAC Johnny Timung, Mohan Tisso, KAAC Board Chairman, along with department officials, he assessed the project’s progress and quality. The road, designed with side drains, a central divider, and a landscaped garden, aims to set a new standard for regional infrastructure.
In a nod to cultural heritage, a grand statue of Karbi legend Rangsina Sarpo will be erected in front of Assam University, Diphu Campus, along the Diphu-Lumding road. Statues of other revered Karbi personalities will adorn major roundabouts along the new road, celebrating the community’s rich legacy.
This December, Diphu will witness the inauguration of several transformative projects: an international-standard swimming pool, a state-of-the-art cancer hospital, a modern flyover, and a scenic beautification lake. These initiatives reflect a broader vision to boost connectivity, health, and public well-being.
