Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar organises Technical festival at remote village

KOKRAJHAR: The Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar in collaboration with NGO-The People’s Aid, Kokrajhar on Thursday organized technical festival at Maligaon-Bhumka remote village where the economic condition of the villagers and literacy rate are extremely poor.

Every year, the CIT, Kokrajhar holds a Technical Festival called ‘TECHRACY’. The festival promises to be a perfect fusion of innovative ideas and enthusiasm. Extending ones limit out of boundary one can express themselves. Starting from competition to workshop it includes many events.

Further, as a part of this programme, they take a social initiative response by organizing programmes at remote villages. This year, in collaboration with The People’s Aid, a Kokrajhar based charitable organization and supported by NHM, Kokrajhar, organized a programme with its theme “Onphaori hands towards humanity” for which, No. 12 Maligaon-Bhumka has been selected as its venue. Though this village is only 35 km away from the heart of BTC, i.e. Kokrajhar town, this village is backward in all aspects of development, like there is no adequate drinking water facility with poor literacy rate and most of the families lives under poverty line, the village is affected by superstitions and they are very much politically and socially unaware.

Apart from some technical sessions like awareness on technical education, robotic exhibition- cum-demonstration, slide shows on technical education, the free medical checkup, distribution of school bags to underprivileged students (from various communities), local sport events and cultural shows were also included in the programme. A session on career counseling on how to get admission into CIT, Kokrajhar was also held on the occasion.
