Guwahati: Following the Centre's directives to 'unlock' the economy, a fresh set of guidelines for the state has been issued which will be in place from September 1 onwards.

In its new guidelines, the Government has informed that wearing of face mask is compulsory during transport, including travel in all kinds of private vehicles.

Here's what has been allowed from the month of September:

Wearing of face cover is mandatory in public places at workplaces, and during transport

Individuals should maintain at least distance of 6 feet in public. Shops will ensure physical distancing among customers.

Spitting in public places will be felonious with fine, as may be prescribed by the State/UT local authority in accordance with its laws, rules or regulations.

The new set of guidelines to be followed in Work Places are as follows:

Work from home(WFH): As far as possible the practice of WFH should be followed.

Staggering of work/business hours should be followed in offices, workplaces, shops, markets, and industrial and commercial establishments.

Provision for thermal screening, hand wash or sanitizer at exit points and common areas.

There must be frequent sanitization in the entire workplace, common facilities, and all points which come into human contact. For instance, door handles will be ensured, including between shifts.

Individuals in the workplace of workplaces will ensure the adequate distance between workers, adequate gaps between shifts, staggering the lunch breaks of staff etc.

These guidelines have been released amid a rising number of cases in the country. For the last five days, India has been reporting more than 75,000 new cases every day, more than any other country has ever done.

The past few weeks have also seen a big rise in the number of tests, which have been crossing the one-million mark on a few days. So the suggestion is that the surge in new detections is because of the rise in the testing numbers.
