Ceremonial sowing of Boro paddy through scientific intervention held in Lakhimpur
The demonstration was conducted in the field of farmer Anuj Deori where he was demonstrated the use of drum seeder for sowing of paddy seeds.

LAKHIMPUR: An event on ceremonial sowing of Boro paddy through scientific intervention was performed at Bongalmora Thengal village under Karunabari block. The event was held under the aegis of Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART) by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lakhimpur under the guidance of Dr Prasanta Kumar Pathak, the Senior Scientist & Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lakhimpur, on Thursday.
The demonstration was conducted in the field of farmer Anuj Deori where he was demonstrated the use of drum seeder for sowing of paddy seeds. While carrying out the demonstration, Assistant Project Scientist, APART, Priyamjit Roy highlighted the cost effectiveness and minimal labour requirement of direct seeding over manual transplanting. He explained and demonstrated the direct seeding through drum seeder to the farmers present.
Research Technician of APART, Durlov Bora extended cooperation in helping the farmer in smooth conduct of the demonstration by operating the drum seeder. Efforts were also made to create awareness among the farmers regarding use of modern technologies and machineries in farming. A group of 34 students from Assam Agricultural University undergoing internship on Rural Agricultural Work Experience Programme (RAWEP) under KVK Lakhimpur actively participated in the demonstration programme and made the programme a successful one.
