Certificate course on community sports begins in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University, Chabua has taken an initiative to start a two-week certificate course on community sports from March 13 to March 25 with the Physical Instructors of Assam nominated by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam. This course aims to prepare the specialized human resource who can motivate and involve people from all walks of life in sports for making an active society.

The participants will be trained in different areas such as community sports, leisure sports, community games. fitness testing. yoga. acupressure and REIKI, health record management, life style, and fitness assessment.

They will also be trained in health-related fitness and Sports Psychology. The certificate course has been sponsored by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam.

The inaugural ceremony of the programme was held on Monday in the SIPRD Banipur Extension Centre, Dibrugarh in the presence of Prof. J.P Verma, Vice Chancellor, SASU, Partha Pratim Bairagi, ACS, Registrar, SASU, Ujjal Saikia, Faculty. SIPRD and Sanjay Upadhyay, District Sports Officer. Dibrugarh, faculty members administrative staff of SASU.

The participants who will be trained in this programme are expected to be involved in creating awareness of sports and fitness among the people at the grassroots level in Assam. This initiative of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University is in line with the Sports Policy of the Government of Assam and the Government of India for developing a healthy society.
