Tezpur: Altogether 19 newly-elected ward commissioners along with the chairman and vice-chairperson of Tezpur Municipal Board (TMB) were sworn in at an oath-taking ceremony held at the new conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Tuesday in the presence of MLA of Tezpur, Prithiraj Rabha.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Nagbanshi administered the oath to the MLA who is also the ex-officio member of Tezpur Municipal Board and also to the newly-elected ward commissioners.
Pragyananu Bhattacharyya (of Ward No 15) and Sangeeta Ghosh Bose (of Ward No. 12) were unanimously elected as chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively of TMB during the course of today's meeting. Assistant Commissioner and EO, TMB, Barsha Talukdar and other officials were also present during today's meeting.
Earlier in the day, the chairperson, vice-chairperson and members of Rangapara MB also took oath in a meeting held at the same venue. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Nagbanshi administered the oath to the newly-elected ward commissioners on the occasion.
Hari Sadhan Das (of Ward No. 6) and Tripti Guha (of Ward No. 4) were unanimously elected as chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively. Assistant Commissioner and EO, RMB, Simi Karan along with other officials of the district administration were present on the occasion.
TINSUKIA: The first meeting and oath-taking ceremony of 10 newly-elected ward commissioners under the Margherita Municipal Board was held on Tuesday in the conference hall of the Margherita Municipal Board.
Palash Rajkumar Ahom, ADC i/c, Margherita, while presiding over the meeting, administered the oath of allegiance to all ward commissioners, including Anand Kumar Sharma of ward No. 6 who was elected as the chairman, and Rajlaxi Devi Gogoi of ward No.2 as vice-chairperson of the Board.
Ahom extended compliments to the newly-appointed members and expressed hope that the board would work effortlessly for the betterment of their wards with full vigour.
DEMOW: For the first time, a full-fledged Demow Municipal Board was formed on Tuesday. The municipal election was held on March 6 and the result was declared on March 9 where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won in 8 wards and alliance partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won in two wards. An oath-taking ceremony was organized in Demow Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Building (Demow Public Hall) on Tuesday where Megha Nidhi Dahal, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district, presided over the meeting and the 10 ward commissioners of Demow Municipal Board took oath.
Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Thowra constituency, along with other dignitaries was also present. Pallabita Gogoi, BJP candidate who won in 10 No. ward, was selected as chairperson and Ajit Borgohain, BJP candidate of 6 No ward, was selected as vice-chairman. Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Thowra constituency, is the ex-officio member.
