HAFLONG: State Power, Mines & Minerals Minister Nandita Gorlosa on Friday handed over cheques amounting to Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister's Public Emergency Fund to the next of kin (NOK) of the two Territorial Army jawans - Balaram Sharma from Umrangso and Priyam Dutta from Haflong - who lost their lives in a massive landslide in the Noney district of Manipur that occurred on June 29, 2022.

The handing over of the cheques was done in presence of Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed at Haflong Circuit House. While the body of Balaram Sharma had been recovered and handed over to the family members, the other jawan is still reported missing till date. The two jawans from Dima Hasao were serving with 107 Bn (TA) 11th Gorkha Rifles located at Noney, Manipur.
