SARUPATHAR: Devotees of Sarupathar in Dhansiri subdivision offered prayers to the rising sun and also took a dip in the water on Chhath Puja which started on Tuesday. Around 2,000 devotees performed puja at Turung Gaonali ghat. The puja was organized in the town area of Sarupathar and at Dhansiri River parghat. Devotees also prepared prasad made of wheat. On the other hand, MLA of 94 LAC Sarupathar constituency, Roselina Tirkey was the chief guest of the Chhath Puja celebration at Sarupathar.

Haflong: Chhath Puja was celebrated in different parts of Dima Hasao with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour by the Hindi-speaking people. The puja was organized by the Hindi Vashi Kalyan Parishad at Haflong and places like Umrongso and Langting. Hundreds of people after observing fast, offered prayers to the Sun God at Haflong Lake and on the banks of rivers. Thus, the four-day long celebration concluded on Wednesday.
