DEMOW: With just few days left for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal campaigned for Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Jorhat LS seat, on Friday in Demow.
The election campaign meeting was held at Demow Public playground. Addressing the election campaign, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “You people are socially and politically conscious and updated and as a voter you have the ability to make the difference between good and bad. We are lucky to have a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi who has made a lot of transformation in India within a short period of time.”
In his speech Sarbananda Sonowal slammed the Congress party and said that Congress and corruption are both sides of a coin. During the tenure of the Congress government, they could only make 6 medical colleges in Assam. Under the Modi government, the State government in Assam has started the works of 8 medical colleges and for the first time in Assam the works of AIIMS have started and the works of 9 engineering colleges and 30 polytechnic institutes have started. The youths of different organizations have officially joined the BJP in the election campaign meeting. In the election campaign meeting, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Jorhat MP, Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra Constituency along with other BJP, AGP leaders were present.
