SILCHAR: Chief Secretary of the State and Chairman of APDCL Jishnu Barua reviewed the performance of APDCL for Hailakandi and Karimganj districts, Jal Jeevan Mission and Mission Basundhara under Hailakandi in presence of the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi Rohan Jha, officers of Hailakandi district Administration, CGM commercial and CGM , central Assam region APDCL at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Saturday.

In the review meeting Chief Secretary Barua asked the APDCL officials to take measures to disconnect the electricity services of the customers who have not paid their outstanding electricity bills.

However, Barua also expressed his satisfaction over the improvement of power scenario in Karimganj district after commissioning of 132/33KV Grid Substation in Karimganj by AEGCL in the month of February.

He instructed APDCL officials to carry out rigorous disconnection drives against defaulting consumers including those who reside at government quarters and also the offices which are not covered under the central payment system such as banks and industries. The Chief Secretary asked the field officers to apply photo-based artificial intelligence while preparing the electricity bills so that the bills would be accurate and error free.

While reviewing the PHE program under the Jal Jeevan Mission , the Chief Secretary said that the connection of drinking water in the educational institutions and Anganwadi centers of Hailakandi district should be ensured by March 2022.

The Chief Secretary also emphasized completing the ongoing 3rd resettlement operation of land in the district with specific targets. He also advised to intensify the liaison with the office of the Settlement Officer of Cachar and Hailakandi in this regard. At the meeting in Hailakandi, he suggested that measures should be taken to regularize the collection of revenue or rent from all the lessees of the land, stated a press release.
