DHUBRI: A one-day symposium on 'Charismatic Bir Chilarai: Reflections of Ancient Bharatiya Education' and a book release programme, was organized on the occasion of Chilarai Divas in Swami Yoganada Giri College situated at Shakti Ashram, Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The programme was organized by the Bengali Department and IQAC, Sapatgram College, in collaboration with the Dhubri district unit of Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samiti (BISS).
The keynote speaker was the Head of Sections, IIT, Guwahati, Dr Subhajit Choudhury, who delivered his thought provoking speech depicting the charismatic qualities of the legendary fearless General of the Koch dynasty Biswa Mahabir Chilarai. In his speech, he portrayed the character of Chilarai by narrating how he could acquire ancient Indian knowledge including knowledge of Sanskrit language, extra- ordinary war tactics, knowledge of ayurveda, etc.
In the programme, a research book in Hindi entitled 'Kochrajbangsh aur Karismai Bir Chilarai' was re-leased by the dignitaries including Principal Dr Rajeswar Prasad Singh, Dr Dipen Adhikary, President BISS, Dhubri, Dr Gour Krishna Saha, Vice-President, BISS, Dhubri, Dr Gopal Barman, Dr Shasanka Shekhar Sharma, and others.
