Children’s Day was celebrated by Akankhya Moina Parijat and Akankhya Sanskritik Kala Kendra at its office premises in North Lakhimpur town on Sunday in a befitting manner.

LAKHIMPUR: Children's Day was celebrated by Akankhya Moina Parijat and Akankhya Sanskritik Kala Kendra at its office premises in North Lakhimpur town on Sunday in a befitting manner. The event was organized in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra and Socio-economic Development Society laying stress on the physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing of the children.

The programme started with the lighting of lamp by Swaraj Hazarika and with moina Ayanjyoti Borah in the chair. Former moinas Banashree Chutia and Bharnavee Kashyap hosted the programme which was inaugurated by moina Swargam Baruah. Moina Akiyan Gogoi took part in the event as appointed speaker who spoke about Dr. Bhabendra Nath Saikia while Jasashya Nandini Baruah spoke about the merits and demerits of mobile phone. Head of the Department of English, Lakhimpur Kendriya Mahavidyalaya- Dr. Dilip Kumar Jha, Lakhimpur District Moina Parijat organizing secretary Pinkumoni Bhuyan, Nehru Yuva Kendra coordinator Sujata Bhoumik attended the programme as guests of honour. In the same programme, retired professor of Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, cultural activist — Dr. Naba Krishna Rajkhowa was felicitated for his contribution to the society. Gyandeep Saikia, Rishabh Nath and Hirakjyoti Bhuyan, who are to join the 2nd National Yoga Sports Championship— 2021, to be held from December 16 in Ahmedabad, were also felicitated in the programme.
